Story of a Bronze - 4
Ceramic Shell
The original clay coating or shell is now a carefully created casing of mineral slurries of different densities which are slowly built up by dipping and re-dipping the wax tree alternately into the slurry and into graded ceramic powders.
Several layers are built up - each being allowed to dry thoroughly.
Over four or five days the ceramic shell is built up to its full thickness - carefully monitored and at a constant temperature.
